This is fucking amazing. I have been through an abortion. It was awful but it was vital to my life, my sanity. I thought constantly about how lucky I was to live in a country where it is not fucking ILLEGAL, on top of everything else. Also, just a side note, but I fucking love reading to a piece of music. Thanks.
I’m glad you enjoyed the song, and this piece — I felt the song was sooo accurate to how i wanted the poem to feel. and i really appreciate you sharing your story here. your choice is valid, and it is YOURS <3
i’m so grateful for you reading it 🥹 thank you for resonating!! i was a bit nervous to share this one but it’s important to share our truths always, i think <3
Beautifully written. I’m with you 100%. Fuck the patriarchal “God” of separation and how cults built around it perpetuate horrors on men and women both, but especially women. So thankful for the brilliant poets like you, revealing truth whether it’s joyous or disgusting.
Hot take: if folks don't want a child brought into this world, don't mess around to where it is a possibility. (This is based on normal circumstances only).
That said, common sense should dictate this kind of thing, not laws. No politics. No religion.
practising abstinence if you don’t want kids/only having sex when u want a baby (as someone who enjoys sex but also doesn’t want kids).. seems unrealistic. birth control sadly is not always 100% effective but it is close
But yeah! the main point of the poem is exactly what you said - no politics and laws and especially religion re: a woman’s body 🙏🏼
