It feels like being there... and ignore people who say "don't add an explanation." I mean - sure - the poem can stand alone, but the background story adds interest and depth. One of the things that I like about Substack - and part off the reason I keep publishing here - is the fact that you can add an introduction and images. Some of my work here has no introduction, but in several of my Posts the intro is integral to the whole thing - a synthesis of prose and poetry.
