it's almost february and i am full of hope
* queue uplifting music from your favourite 90s romcom *
my spirits are soaring even though i’m about to file a missing person’s report for the sun - haven’t seen her in weeks. not even a glimpse!! regardless, my soul-cup overflows due to having traveled the west coast of the US and Canada for the past 5 weeks (see my last newsletter for details). i stayed with family and close friends the entire time, and i truly feel like myself again after a tumultuous couple of years. grateful for this return to self & joy etc!!
i will share more travel stories and tales as i settle back into my home & routine here, but first i want to offer these poetry prompts which i have summoned for the upcoming month. please use the ones that spark your fancy and discard the ones that don’t - and be sure to let me know if you use a prompt!
below you’ll find a little treat which takes the shape of a poem [written using some of the above prompts]. i hope you enjoy it :)
alone at the train station, pocket of my ripped jeans full of pennies. wearing the sort of headphones that cover the ears. guess which song is painting murals across this silent disco, guess how much i loved you the first time we both laughed and nobody else did? there are still riddles i can't quite work out but that is the nature of riddles. a wet dream followed by a chain reaction followed by inferno. trains inch along rust and the song changes and you remain under my skin. somewhere, thunderous applause followed by your haunting silence - gone but still right in front of me.

Love the poem! It disappeared when I clicked the comment box - wanted to refer to it. Ugh. Love how much one travels while reading it. :)
