i stumbled across this article while doing some internet explorations and became immediately obsessed with Hanne Zaruma, the Ukrainian artist being interviewed. the way she visually captures the complex and nuanced relationship between humans and technology is something i’ve been chasing in my recent poetry pursuits.

attempting to make sense of the swirling ideas and questions which haunt me somewhat relentlessly.

the work of Hanne Zaruma

these images stir a visceral response in my body and psyche. she has captured the way we’ve willingly plugged ourselves into, and fused with, the beast that is technology. a relationship with an array of advantageous byproducts like connection, inspiration, information and productivity. but also, a bond that does not come without a price.

what is the price we pay for our choice to plug in? can it be named? what do we gain, what do we lose?
