a clinging and a letting go
(poem)
maple trees watched as we giggled
in their shade, eating crackers with
brie and vanilla pear jam. we are all immortal
in July. the leaves suddenly a shock
of crimson blood gliding
down, feather-light to kiss fairy rings
and mud. now, autumn
envelops me in her distinct flavour
of nostalgia, a welcomed
abandonment. fall’s frosty breath
chills my spine, my heart becomes
a still lake at dusk. the whole
choir of frogs, too. i carry
an undying love for all things beautiful
and painful, realizing they are
one and the same. i reach
for a scarf and assign it
meaning. change is all
there is, change
is all there
is.

Lovely.
I love this Sonja xx
